Tarsiers

The tarsiers are the smallest primate in the world that can only be found in few places in the Philippines, Bohol being one of them. Tarsiers are now considered an endangered specie. They have large, perfect-round eyes and a neck that can rotate at a 180-degrees angle. Their ratlike tails are longer than their body which supports them while climbing along with their hands and feet. These shy, furry  creatures feed on crickets, beetles, termites, lizards, birds and has almost no enemies in the wild. They are nocturnal and are able to jump backward with utmost precision. They are solitary and territorial animals.

Tarsier

The tarsier sanctuaries in Bohol can be found in the towns of Corella, Loboc, and Sikatuna. The Philippine Tarsier Foundation Inc. is one of the organizations that promotes the advocacy of conserving the tarsiers’ natural habitats and their kind’s survival.
