Tagbilaran City is the capital city of the Province of Bohol. It is some 630 km from Manila and located at the southwestern part of the province.
Tagbilaran City is composed of 15 barangays, occupying a total lang area of 3,270 hectares, 13 kilometers of which is a coastline. The city has two notable peaks, Elley Hill and Banat-i Hill, rising on both ends of the city.
Tagbilaranś name came from two words, tagu(to hide) and bilaan(Muslim marauder tribe), which means ¨to hide from the Moros¨. The city traces its history as a settlement, known as the Bool Kingdom, to as early as the 15th century.
The city obtained its charter on July 1, 1966 by virtue of Republic Act No. 4660.
